Carpets can be directly used so it saves installation fees which may incur while applying any other flooring option. Following are the main carpet types available in market:

Frieze : (Pronounced "free-zay") A tightly twisted yarn is used to give a rough, knobby appearance to carpet pile. This type of carpet is extremely durable & perfect for room with lots of activity. It has short fibers that tend to curl in different directions at the surface to hide footprints and vacuum marks.

Pile all of the loops of yarn are at the same height, with the Multi-Level Loop the heights of the yarn varies. These carpets are very durable and ideal for high traffic areas. They have a casual appearance.

Here are a few other things in mind while choosing the carpets:

The majority of the carpet produced in the United States contains one of six pile fibers: nylon, polypropylene (olefin), acrylic, polyester, wool, or cotton. Nylon is the most popular fibers because of it is of low cost and hides wear and stains. Though different types of fibers have different benefits, the nylon fibers is most popular with durability and brilliant coloring.

The basic rules of carpeting are:

1. The tighter the yarn, twist is the better.
2. The shorter nap & newer look.
3. More the stitches per inch more the crush resistance of a carpet.
4. In case of a looped carpet, the tighter the loop, the better the wear will be.

How to pick a pattern and a color

Consider a solid, neutral color that will match with most wall and furnishing colors & patterns. Choose the colors & patterns which are versatile. If the dirt is a factor choose dark colors & pattern which hides the dirt.

Basic steps to maintain carpets

Vacuum regularly and remove carpet stains as soon as noticed. As the longer a stain remains it is more difficult to remove. Some preventative measures can be set to reduce the wear on the carpet, like using inside & out side mats at entrances and other areas helps prevent excessive soiling on carpet.
